Why Protect Your Vacation?

You’ve chosen the perfect Outer Banks vacation rental. You’ve paid the deposit. You’ve told the family. You’re in the process of planning what to eat, where to go, and what to do. Everyone is excited about the upcoming trip to the OBX! Did you or the leaseholder for your reservation purchase travel insurance?

You’re group is probably not thinking about what happens in the event that you or part of your group unexpectedly cannot make the trip. The last thing you want to think about is something going wrong, but sometimes the unfortunate happens and planned trips get interrupted or canceled. Travel Insurance can give you peace of mind to relax and enjoy your OBX vacation.

Generali travel insurance is offered on every reservation. You have the option to accept or decline coverage when completing your Twiddy Vacation Rental Agreement.

What does Travel Insurance cover?

Generali travel insurance covers many unexpected events that could change your travel plans. It does not cover everything that could happen. We’ll cover the basics of what Generali’s plan covers, but it’s important to read the Description of Coverage to fully understand coverage. Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, and Travel Delay are all common reasons why vacations are canceled.

Hope they have travel insurance
  • Sickness, Injury, and Death: If you, a traveling companion or your service animal pass away or get sick or injured after you purchase your plan, must be treated in person by a physician and cannot travel according to a physician, travel insurance may cover your trip. Coverage is also available if a non-traveling family member is hospitalized or passes away after you purchase your plan, deeming you unable to travel.
  • Mandatory Evacuation: On the Outer Banks, we’re no strangers to the threat of hurricanes. If your destination is evacuated due to adverse weather or a natural disaster, like a hurricane, coverage is available. See Generali’s information on Trip Interruption for more information on canceling your trip due to mandatory hurricane evacuation.
  • Baggage: Baggage coverage can reimburse you if your baggage is damaged, lost or stolen during your trip.

This is our summary of travel insurance coverage. This summary is not intended to substitute or supplement your travel insurance policy. Please refer to your policy for details.
